Steve grew up in Jennings County and graduated from JCHS. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He also has a master's in Space Science from The University of Houston Clear Lake.
Steve was a civil servant at NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas, for 33 years. During his career he worked as a Space Shuttle Guidance and Control officer in Mission Control, managed flight control groups and held various roles supporting the International Space Station Program including deputy manager of program's business office. Steve also led JSC's 2-year recovery from >$50M in damages caused by Hurricane Ike in 2008. He finished his career as a program control & integration manager and senior analyst in the Commercial Crew Program.
Steve retired from federal service in 2015 to give his time and talents to non-profit organizations, the church and his community. He serves at Career Gear Houston and Kidz Harbor. He is president of his neighborhood homeowners association. Steve has two sons and they live in Friendswood, TX.
